But it was rather thickly populated. According to the state special edict (zoranamak) about the quantity and classification of ancient Armenia`s armed forces, Varajnoonik gave 300 horsemen to the Armenian army before the fall of Armenian Arshakooni dynasty.

Movses Khorenatsi, testifies, that the namegiver of Varajnoonik house was Varaj - the son of prince Dat among the descendants of Gegam Nahapet (progenitor). According to the tradition the toponym Gegharkoonik has come from the name of Gegam Nahapet.

Artashes l hereditably handed the province Varajnunik to Varaj - the agent of huntsmanship.

THE FERST EVIDENCE OF OUR ERA FOR DDMASHEN AS A VILLAGE SETTLEMENT.

— The first witness of our era about Ddmashen as a village locality is the 7th century church built in the eastern part of the village.

WHAT DOES TESTIFY THAT THE CHURCH WAS BUILT IN THE 7TH CENTURY?

— There isn`t preserved any information about the church`s building. It is date according to the architectural invention and bulding technique.

WHAT QUANTTTY OF VILLAGE POPULATION WAS SUPPOSED DURING THE CHURCH'S BUILDING.

— According to the measuremenst, a church having such a hall might be built in a peopleful settlement. At the time of church`s building the number of the village population was supposed more than 1000 people.

DDMAHSEN IN THE 7TH - 17TH CENTURIES.

— In the 7-9th centuries the arabs have seized it. After unyoking and reestablishing the Armenian State, the Pahlavoonik ruled in Varajnunik.

The had chosen Bjni as a residence.

After the fall of Bagratooni dynasty, the Byzantine armies ruled over Varajnunik unti 1060. Then the province was subdued by seljook turks. In the 13th century theprovince became under the domination of Zakarins.

During the tatar-mongol invasiono the village was ruined and plunered. According to the certain information reachedus about the other settlements of the province the population of the Ddmashen overcame unexampled violences. A part was killed, the other run to the mountains.

After the tatar-mongols the province of Varajnoonik was invaded by nomadic tribes of turkman, Sefians, Kara-Koyoonly and Ak-Koyoonly.
